Happy Holidays everyone!

Bonnes fêtes!
See you in 2011!

Monday 20 December 2010

somebody switch the light on please?

Picture loading issue solved.
Another one which I'm working on : our transit accomodation, though offering a practical and spatious living area, is really dark.
The only decent picture I made inside is this:
Bowl from Albert Hein.

The transit accom. has mugs and tons of coffie cups. But we don't drink coffee. So, this bowl rocking its granny-folklorish-pompomtrim-crossstitch design will be the perfect solution for large tea portions and hot cocoa....

Connections

Well, today decided be be that kind of day where the weather forces you to change all your plans : lunch and morning meeting cancelled, still wondering how to swim throught the snow that keep on piling since this morning...since cycling, driving or walking seems out question and trams are stopped and buses delayed...
But motivation is there. First non cancelled pm appointment is with our potential realtor and second a house visit!
Reminds me of flashfloods in Houston...or in general when Mother Nature has a saying on your day despite us living in the XXst century

Long story short, I am grounded and what a better way to make usage of indoor time (other than crafting and maybe cooking) than browsing through an online magazine?
Lonny, done. Rue as well.
So, Covet Garden it is! (Don't thank me, I am only forwarding the info I found on Sfgirlbybay!)

edit [ I originally wanted to show you the paper tassels I have just finished but forgot to mention I haven't figured out yet how to access my photolibrary...yes, it sounds stupid, an account/library/exterior drive/two different computers issue that I hope my IT dpt will solve over the weekend.]

A Scotch please...and a cake too.

It is bity mighty cold here in NL but the scotch I could be served with looks like this :
simply irresistable.

And, quite different I must admit, I'll also have one of these adorable happy cakes from the ever excellent Happy Horse.
Little detial, each one comes with several tag 'with love', 'happy birthday', 'it's a girl', 'get well soon' etc. You just cut the ones you don't need. Ain't that clever?

A credenza story

Moving in, means often rediscovering your furniture and stuff after months - sometimes years ;-)- after packing them.
While I'm already longing (only couple of months to go girl!) for our two IKEA
Torsbys which you have seen in this previous post and will soon be sailing somewhere over the Atlantic, I bumped into this beauty....

Hmm should be too difficult to create with a neutral sideboard, a handy hand and few wood boards. And while I was strolling in the cabinet aisle, here are few other suggestions :
(from CB2)
(from IKEA)

Btw, if anybody knows exactly the difference between credenza and sideboard, feel free to comment...I haven't checked that yet.

[edit: Réré, I might directly ask you since not a lot of people are stopping here....what do you think?]

Not a clue... I've never used 'credenza' and don't think I've ever heard it in the Uk either.
Funny though, I almost bought the white Ikea cabinet!! (love the first one)

Décalée

Pictures from my advent wreath will come later as the ones I have taken sofar have turned the yummy raspberry pink into a crazy red...
So in the meantime : here is a Little house in the prairie like dress but cute -to me.

Retour to sender

Ahhhhh! rediscovering the NL and their gift/love for design...
Have you ever read 101 woonideeën?
Worth trying.

They have a article on a designer for HEMA (one of the fave things in the NL, in case you don't know)...a job for one of my next lives...

She designed
this lovely gingerbread men for the HEMA's (fair trade) Retour to Sender Xmas collection.
Her blog
SjoeSjoe is also worth visiting!

and while moving

You know how when moving, it is vital to keep few things personal around you. Homeward Bound on repatriation and Marylin's Fragments along with the last issue Martha Stewart 's Living have found a little spot in my luggage.

simultaneity

Both Rere and I have moved last weekend. We are officially now on the same continent. though in two different countries. Hence the non posting lately. Leave us just few days to unpack/recover and we'll see ya soon!(emptying the house and getting ready to cross the Atlantic)

(Castor waiting to go in the sea container)
