knot and knit 2

(photo La Poule à Petits Pas)

This bracelet on La Poule caught our two pairs of our eyes few weeks ago... I was first hoping to find an explanation in this book in French on Maedups, without luck.
Yesterday, I saw this headband from Accessorize.

And snapped this shot in the hope of deciphering the image and/or finding somewhere on the net a tutorial.

knot and knit

My latest obsession = finger knitting.
Just in time to make summery bracelets.

Bumped a couple of weeks ago in a store into a Zpagetti ball.
And one thing leading to another I ended up at Vanessa's tutorial for finger jersey knitted bracelets. Watch her video at the bottom.
Reg found this tutorial on finger knitting and being the slow learner that I am, I had to get helped by this one in French.
The technique/result varies slightly provided you loop back above all your fingers or swirve back between fingers.

(four finger version)

Still have to try :

- head pieces with longer ties.
- mixing differents fabrics.
- not ending up not chocking my fingers with far too tight a noose :-)
- trying it with tricotin knitted wool/threads
- cutting fabric from an old t-shirt

Islands

Sending a little "endless summer vacation" feel to start the weekend.
Bumped into them during a festival few weeks ago.
You may have heard their song '
My Body'.
Musical crush. But not just that.
They got it all right to me.
The music. His voice. Their song My Body.
Their Nonchalance. The directing of the video and the concept of the In the Open sessions.
Just like the Takeaway Concerts. Even the title font.

And something completely different to get inspired by the young people at heart. Have you seen the genius Advanced Style blog? Via Vosges Paris. We Luuuv it here.

basket in your basket

Simple. uncluttered. pure. organic. sustainable. ethnic. Call it what you want.
One article, four places to get it from. just as examples. Three in Europe, one accross the Atlantic.

Waar, the fair trade shop in the NL. (€135.-)
Also: The Bijenkorf stores. (not the same one but similar items from the same collection available online)

The Conran Shop en France. (€160.-)
The Conran Shop in the UK. (£135 )
The ABC Carpet and Home in the US. ($225)

That's a fact. Not only is travelling costly in terms of CO2, it is simply costly.
Just like Componibilis are super expensive in the US and George Nelson lamps in Europe.
But if anything is to be available everywhere on this planet, why oh why can't I find Mayan Folding chairs (also called clam chair) in Europe? HELP!
